Troop is Boy Driven



Boy Leadership

- Boy Driven Troop - Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leaders and other 
  leadership positions are elected for a six-month term

- Active participation in Order of the Arrow


Adult Leadership

- Woodbadge Trained Leaders

- Leadership in Order of the Arrow

- Actively involved in the troop and district


Meetings
- Regular: Tuesday night - 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. (Except Tuesday after outing) consisting of skill training, merit badges workshops, and fun!

- Patrol Leaders Council (PLC): - 7:30 PM first Tuesday after monthly outing

- Troop Committee Meeting: - 7:30 PM on 3rd Thursday of the month

Campouts/Outings
-
The troop camps monthly, usually within a 150 mile radius of Mesquite at Texas State Parks and area Boy Scout Camps
-
Fees: Depending on location and activity, the fee will range averages about $20.00 (food) per outing plus camping fees

Summer Camp (Trips held annually)
- Camping at scout camps in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas
- Camping - High Adventure activities for the older boys are planned for every other year- Northern Tier Canoe trips, Sea Base, and Philmont

- Troop 90 went to Philmont in 2005 and we plan to return in 2010. In 2009 we will be going to Northern Tier Canoe Base.


Winter Camp
-
Participates in Circle Ten Council's Winter Camp held between Christmas and New Year's (no bugs)


Troop Supplied Equipment

-  Each Patrol is equipped with stoves, cooking utensils, and ice chests,
    dining flies etc

-  The Troop provides tents for each Scout- single occupancy- if needed.

-  Scouts generally supply their own sleeping bag and other minor supplies


Fund raising Opportunities:

- Participation in Boy Scout Popcorn and selling Scout Show tickets result in reduced costs to individual activities


Advancement - Trail to Eagle

- Regular advancement path to 1st class encouraged

- More than thirty (30) boys in Troop 90 have reached the rank of Eagle since its charter in 1961
